It had been a long flight for Danny, but finally he found himself at a New York airport. It was a busy place. Everyone seemed like they were in a hurry. Danny even bumped into a few people, but they hardly noticed him. Yet despite all this, Danny was just happy to get off the plane. It was crowded and the guy he sat next to snored the entire time. Which was just his luck.

"Okay, just gotta find this... Ned Lee guy," Danny thought. He made his way to the entrance, hoping to find his college mentor. He saw several people holding up signs, but none of them had his name. Finally, he saw a young Korean-American man burst into the airport.

"Man, I am so late for my pick up," he muttered. He held up a sign that read "Danny Fenton". At last, Danny had found the person he was looking for.

"Are you Ned Lee?" Danny asked as he approached him.

Ned turned toward the boy, "Yeah, that's me. And you must be Danny? Danny Fenton?" Ned asked as he reached out his hand to shake.

"Yeah, that's me." Danny took his hand and shook.

"Sorry I ran late. I had some things to take care of for work," Ned explained.

"It's fine. I just got off of the plane, honestly,"

"Well, better get going. I imagine you're exhausted after your long flight," Ned guessed.

"You have no idea."

Ned had taken Danny to a food joint to get the taste of airline food out of his mouth, something Danny was grateful for. Night approached quickly as Danny took in the sheer size of the city. He hadn't seen a lot, looking from outside the passenger seat window. What he had seen, however, was enough to take his breath away.

Buildings were taller than anything he had ever seen in Amity Park. "I wonder how this city looks at night?" Danny wondered. He was certain it would look incredible, like a thousand stars in the sky.

It turned out Ned was majoring in journalism and even had a job in the field at a local newspaper, The Daily Bugle. Ned told Danny he was on an incredible investigation concerning one of New York's biggest icons. Danny didn't know what that meant, and he didn't care; he was too distracted by the size of the city.

Danny and Ned arrived at Ned's apartment. It was a small place, even for an apartment building. When they finally arrived in Ned's room, the room was a disaster. Clothing was thrown all over the floor along with several pieces of paper. Danny saw a small desk with papers thrown everywhere. A desk was piling up with all sorts of notes and empty soda cans. On the wall nearby there seemed to be newspaper articles about some strange things happening in this town.

"Wow, and I thought my room was bad," Danny commented.
.
Ned smiled nervously, "Yeah, sorry about the clutter. I meant to tidy up a bit before you got here, I hope you don't mind."

Of course, Danny did mind, but he didn't voice it. "Just be glad you are on vacation," Danny kept reminding himself.

Danny had woken early that next morning. Ned Lee had already been up for a while. "Come on, sleeping beauty. I gotta get to work and I'm taking you with me," Ned explained.

"Great," Danny sarcastically commented. Danny wasn't looking forward to spending his day at a news room. He had been hoping to see more of this large city that was to be his home for the week.

"Come on, Danny. I don't want my boss mad at me," Ned said as he dug through random papers on his desk.

"This is going to be a boring day," Danny convinced himself. He then grabbed a clean pair of jeans and a clean shirt and headed towards the restroom to change.

"Robbie, I need that layout in 3.4 seconds!" a grumpy man shouted. He had a graying black flattop with white at the temples.

"Already there, Mr. Jameson," an African-American man replied.

"Foswell, where's my rewrite?!" Mr. Jameson yelled. "And where the devil is Lee? I called him in over 45 minutes ago!"

"Foswell's rewrite, sir, and it's only been 28 minutes." A woman handed Mr. Jameson a folder as he walked right by her.

J. Jonah Jameson had been publisher of the Daily Bugle for a long time, and he was as strict as he was loud.

Danny and Ned arrived on floor 22 of the Daily Bugle. The elevator opened to reveal a city room bursting with commotion. People were rushing left and right, and in the middle of it all was Mr. Jameson, coming straight for them.

"Lee! I want that story on my desk in 5.3 seconds!" Ned handed Mr. Jameson a folder.

"Right here, Mr. Jameson."

"Where's Parker? I want pictures of Spider-Man on my desk in 3.2 seconds or he can start making bagels across the street! And you!" Mr. Jameson yelled, pointing towards Danny.

"Me?" Danny asked as his eyes widened with shock and confusion.

"Yeah, you! I sent you for my coffee seven minutes ago! Cream, sugar, decaf!" Jameson shouted, holding up a finger for each demand described.

Danny wasn't sure how to react, "Wait... I don't..."

"Parker's on that weeklong trip. You sent Benny, sir. And it's only been three," Ms. Brant, Mr. Jameson's secretary, corrected.

"Mr. Jameson, this is Danny Fenton. He's a student visiting from—" Ned Lee tried to explain, but Jameson cut him off.

"I don't care if he's the King of Norway! I want this infant out of my city room! I'm running a newspaper, not a daycare center!" Mr. Jameson turned to another man across the room. "Bobby, where's my sport's page?!"

Danny was both shocked and amazed at Mr. Jameson. His voice still rang in Danny's ears. "Wow, is he always this mean?" Danny asked.

Ned just gave a slight chuckle, "Nah, this is one of his good days." Danny shot Ned a confused look. Ned then gave a sigh, "Sorry, Danny. You'll have to wait for me. I promise I'll only be a few minutes."

Danny had decided to get breakfast and wait at the bagel and coffee place across the street for Ned…where he had been for an hour with still no sign of Ned. Danny sat at his table, bored out of his mind. He wished Sam and Tucker had come, at least then he would have someone to talk to. Minutes seemed to pass like hours as he waited.

"I wish something would happen," Danny commented to himself out loud. Just then, he heard sirens coming straight towards him. He looked out the window to see a pair of police cars zooming down the street.

"Wow, someone's in a hurry," Danny said. He then saw a police car soar through the air several yards and onto a parked vehicle, crushing it. Another car was thrown in the air and smashed into the street.

"Someone's in an even bigger hurry!" Danny then raced outside with the rest of the swarm of people. Unlike the others however, Danny stayed in front of the store, while everyone else fled in the opposite direction.

Finally, a huge figure came into view. A giant man that looked like a... rhinoceros. "Okay, I've seen some weird stuff before, but what is that?" Danny asked himself.

The Rhino picked up another parked vehicle with ease, "Spider-Man! Where are you, you little creep?!" He then hurled it in the street, sending it smashing into a street light. A group of police men and women had opened fire on the Rhino, but their bullets simply bounced of him without even slowing him down. The Rhino charged at them. The police quickly moved out of his path as he crashed into their cars, tearing them to shreds like paper.

"Okay, it's official... this vacation reeks," Danny said as he rushed towards an alleyway. He looked around to make sure he was alone. Of course, with that maniac causing trouble, he'd be surprised if anyone else was still in a fifty-mile radius.

"I'm going ghost!" he shouted. His body transformed from Danny Fenton into Danny Phantom. He then took to the air to meet his new opponent.

The Rhino rammed into another car, sending it soaring across the street. He then stomped the ground as hard as he could, breaking up the pavement.

"Wow, I know most people are trying to slim down now-a-days, but you pull off the fat and ugly look well," a voice came from behind him. Rhino furiously turned to see ... not who he was expecting. Instead, he saw a floating boy with white hair.

Rhino raised his eyebrow, "Humph... And what are you supposed to be?"

"I think a better question would be, what are you supposed to be?" Danny asked. "An over-sized armadillo?"

Rhino growled in anger as he picked up a police car. "Call me, Rhino!" he shouted.

"Well, that would explain the horn, or are you just really happy to—"

Before Danny could finish, the Rhino hurled the car straight at him. Danny quickly moved out of the way. Danny turned towards the Rhino again to see him ripping out a street light from the ground. He swung it at the white haired boy. Danny dodged and dodged as the Rhino kept trying.

"This guy doesn't have any ghost powers?" Danny wondered. The Rhino swung again, but instead of dodging, Danny went intangible and the pole passed right through him as if he were made of smoke.

"Which means, this guy can't hurt me," Danny cheered, as he believed he had already won. The Rhino threw the pole straight at the boy, but again, Danny went intangible. He then turned around to see the pole heading straight for two civilians down the road. He flew towards them as fast as he could.

A young man with brown hair and glasses and a dark haired woman saw a light pole crash into the wall above them. The boy shoved the woman out of the path of the falling rubble.

Just before the rubble and light post crushed him, a flying kid swooped down and pulled him to safety. Danny then set the boy down as the woman rushed over and hugged the boy, tears building in her eyes.

"But he can hurt them," Danny said to himself, speaking of the citizenry.

"Okay, time to stop playing around." Danny then flew towards the Rhino at full-speed.

"At 112 miles per hour, I'll bet this—!" But as soon as he rammed into the Rhino, he bounced off him like a paper ball thrown against a brick wall.

Danny quickly recovered and heard the Rhino give a cruel chuckle. "My turn," the Rhino taunted, lifting his arm.

He then threw a punch at the ground where Danny was, but Danny quickly rolled out of the way. Another punch was thrown by the grey goliath, but Danny quickly leaped out of the way. He unleashed several blasts from his hands at the Rhino. Even though they connected, the blasts didn't seem to faze the Rhino. He took to the air to escape the giant's charge. Danny then put all of his power into another blast, with the same result.

The Rhino merely chuckled, "Tickles."
"Great, he's enjoying it," Danny thought.

Danny flew towards the ground, phasing through it. Rhino started to look franticly for his enemy, "Where did you go, freak?"

"You're one to talk!" Danny shouted as he grabbed the Rhino's leg from under him and dragged him into the air. Danny struggled as he gained altitude.

"Put me down!" the Rhino demanded.

"Okay, but only 'cause you asked so nicely!" Danny shouted as he spun around and tossed the Rhino into a gasoline truck. He then shot an energy beam at the fuel, causing it to explode.

Danny landed on the ground and exhaled deeply. However, as the smoke cleared, he saw the giant walk through the flames, unscathed.

"Is that all you got, you little wimp?!" The Rhino taunted.

Danny's eyes widened as he saw Rhino's grin. "Great, it's official. I'm out of ideas." Danny took to the air and sped down the road with the Rhino following close behind.

Danny noticed that as he fled, there were a lot of people on the street, many of them swerving out of the Rhino's path. However, one car wasn't able to get away in time. The Rhino sent the car soaring into the air. Danny, upon seeing this, quickly flew towards the airborne car and phased the two victims out of the vehicle as it crashed into the ground and exploded. Danny set the two bystanders on the side of the road and continued his flight.

"I've got to find a way to stop this guy before anyone gets hurt," Danny repeated to himself. The Rhino ripped out a piece of road and hurled it towards the ghost boy. It crashed into him. However, the road didn't stop soaring.

Danny turned his head to see himself and the patch of asphalt heading straight for an office building. Danny quickly turned himself and the stone intangible before they connected with the building. They passed through the building harmlessly, sending them both into the street on the other side. The stone crumbled as it hit the road and sent Danny soaring several feet before finally rolling on the ground.

"Ow..." Danny moaned as he slowly got up.

Danny turned his head to see the wall explode as the Rhino appeared. The giant ripped out a lamppost and swung it at Danny. Danny quickly rolled out of the way and took to the air. The Rhino then hurled the lamppost towards the ghost boy, but Danny phased through it.

He looked behind him to see the lamppost heading towards an occupied car. A man with parted black hair sporting a shirt with green haired male fairy saw the lamppost coming straight for him. He panicked and didn't swerve. Fortunately, Danny phased him out of the car and down the street.

"Dude, my car!" the man complained.

Danny grew irritated. "Um... Hello! Your life! Saved! You're welcome!" Danny snapped as he gently dropped the man onto the pavement.

Danny turned to see his giant enemy coming straight for him. He flew into the air, but didn't get far before the Rhino grabbed his leg. Rhino then forced Danny to the ground and before Danny could react, he swung Danny into a parked vehicle and then into the pavement. He then threw Danny into the wall of a building.

Danny, caught on the building, finally regained his vision. When he did, he saw the Rhino coming, headfirst, straight for him. Danny quickly turned intangible and the Rhino smashed through the wall behind him. Danny flew back several yards, putting some distance between him and Rhino. The giant appeared from the building an office desk in each hand. He threw one at Danny, who was able to dodge the first one, but was hit by the second one. Danny fell to the ground after contact.

Danny turned on his back and looked upward to see the Rhino standing over him.

"Got you now, you little creep!" Rhino taunted as he lifted his arm. Danny quickly opened his hands and unleashed a bright green light right in the Rhino's eyes.

The Rhino screamed in pain. As a reflex, the Rhino brought down his arm, but Danny rolled just enough to avoid his blow. Danny took to the air once again, and flew away. As soon as the Rhino's vision cleared, he followed.

Danny flew towards the docks, hoping to lure the Rhino away from civilians. The Rhino emerged from down the street carrying another car in his hands. He hurled it towards the ghost boy, but the boy went intangible at the last second.

Danny flew up to the sky as the Rhino charged forward, crashing into the car, sending it soaring into the river. Danny landed and shot an energy beam past the Rhino's face.

"Ha, you missed," the Rhino mocked.

"Not aiming for you," Danny taunted. A crane wire snapped above the Rhino as a huge shipping container fell on him. Danny quickly used the Rhino's time under the container to turn on one of the forklift trucks. The Rhino burst out of the container with a shout of anger, tearing it in half.

Danny then drove the truck straight towards the Rhino at full-speed. However, before the truck could tackle the Rhino, Danny quickly escaped from the vehicle. The Rhino merely put out his arms to stop the forklift truck and picked it up off the ground. He then tossed it at Danny, who quickly leaped aside.

As Danny landed on a wooded bridge, it started to rumble. Danny quickly regained his balance as he looked to his left to see a 'Danger: Unstable Bridge' sign. Danny's mind began to race with an idea.

"Yeah, it can hold 120 pound me, but can it hold a 700 pound Rhino?"

Danny then grinned at his giant opponent, "Come on, fatso. You can't beat me from way over there."

"Oh, I'll beat you alright!" the Rhino shouted in anger as he charged straight for Danny. Danny stood his ground as the giant came straight for him.

When the Rhino placed his foot on the wooden bridge, the bridge gave out and the Rhino dropped into the river.

"Nope, I guess not," Danny commented. The Rhino flailed about as he tried to stay afloat.

"Help!" the Rhino barely managed to scream as water gurgled his voice. "I can't swim!"

Danny sighed as he heard this... "You've got to be kidding," he thought to himself. He then took a deep breath and dove into the river. He swam his way to the Rhino, grabbing him by the leg. With all his might, he pulled the Rhino out of the river and back onto the docks.

Danny landed and started panting, and he saw the Rhino coughing up the water in his mouth. The Rhino then stood up slowly with a furious look on his face. Danny took a step back and braced himself.

"Move!" a voice had shouted from the distance. Just then, two containers hit the ground and exploded with a gas-like substance. The Rhino started hacking as he inhaled the compound, while Danny quickly covered his nose and mouth, flying out of range.

He looked in the direction of the thrown containers to see three cops in uniform. A man and a woman with blue hats, and then a third man with graying hair in a blue suit and red tie.

Danny then collapsed to the ground, panting.

"You alright, son?" the grey haired man said as he offered Danny a hand up. Danny took it willingly.

"Well, all my limbs are still attached. So yeah, I'm okay."

This made the man smile. "We'll take it from here, son."

"Thanks and it's... Danny... Danny Phantom."

"Captain George Stacy," the officer introduced himself as he offered a handshake. Danny smiled and took it.

"I gotta go," Danny said made his way towards the sky. "Keep up the good work."

Danny quickly made his way back to the Daily Bugle, finding an alleyway to transform back into Danny Fenton. When he appeared out of the alleyway, he noticed several police cars blocking off the area. Just then, he saw Ned Lee finally emerging through the crowd.

"Ned!" Danny shouted, heading towards him.

"Danny, you okay?" Ned asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine... Just hiding from that... thing," Danny lied.

"Oh, the Rhino. Yeah, we've got some freaky stuff in New York," Ned explained. "Anything like this ever happen where you're from?"

Danny just smiled. "You have no idea."

Danny and Ned made their way to the docks, where they spotted the Rhino being dragged into a large truck with a company name on it that Danny didn't catch. Ned Lee headed towards the officer Danny had met earlier today.

"Captain Stacy? Ned Lee, of the Daily Bugle," Ned introduced himself as the officer turned towards him. "I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions." Ned didn't wait for an answer as he continued, "How was the Rhino captured?"

"The Rhino was captured by some very brave men and women who put their lives on the line... We got lucky today. Thanks to a certain someone," Captain Stacy replied.

"Are you referring to the flying boy everyone's been talking about?" Ned responded. "What do you know about him?"

"All I know is that Danny Phantom saved a lot of lives today. He should be proud of himself." Stacy commented as he shot a look towards Danny, but Danny wasn't paying attention. His eyes were fixated on his fallen opponent as they secured him into the truck.

"Where will the Rhino be taken with the Vault so badly damaged?" Ned asked.

"OsCorp is sending the Rhino to an underground cell near OsCorp."

"Any comments on that?"

Stacy was silent for a moment as he saw the truck drive away. "The sooner the Vault is repaired, the better."

Danny's eyes had followed the truck as it made its way out of sight. He was silent, his mind recreating the battle in his mind.

"Quite a day, huh, Danny?" Ned's voice came from behind him. Danny turned to see Ned with a notepad and a pencil in his hand.

Captain Stacy then came from behind Ned with a smile, "Who's your friend, Lee?"

"This is Danny Fenton, a student from Amity Park," Ned responded.

"Danny, this is Captain George Stacy." Captain Stacy smiled at Danny as he offered a handshake.

"Pleased to meet you, son."

Danny smiled as he accepted the handshake. "It's Danny."

"Come on, we'd better get going, Danny." Ned headed towards the street that led back to the Daily Bugle.

Stacy then put his hand on Danny's shoulder. "Be careful, Danny. This city can be a dangerous place." He finally released Danny and headed towards his vehicle.

"What was that all about?" Danny wondered as he followed Lee.

Deep underground, a monitor glowed with images of a boy with white hair battling a grey giant. And as these images flashed, an overweight man watched. "Well, what an interesting and unanticipated turn of events. All the same, this is most... fortuitous." The man grinned as the monitor shut down.

nice... but why didn't he just try to over shadow the Rhino? I laughed at the part of him driving a truck though
